11 illegal migrants detained during a special operation border policemen from Bulgaria’s GPU
In the course of a specialized police operation, a team of the Svilengrad Police Department took action to check a car that was visibly overloaded. The car was spotted in the area of the village of Studena and stopped after a light and sound signal was given to the driver by the border police.
During the control in the car “Opel Astra” 11 foreign citizens were identified – six men, a woman and four children, without documents, according to their data – Syrian citizens.
An operative-investigative group was immediately sent to the scene. The identities of illegal migrants are being established. The driver, a 25-year-old resident of a Haskovo village, was detained for up to 24 hours. The work on the case continues under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Haskovo, Territorial Department – Svilengrad.
