Heritage goods, discovered at the border
At the Jimbolia Border Crossing Point, Timiș County, Romania, a 55-year-old German citizen, driving a car registered in Latvia, presented himself on the way out of the country .
Carrying out the border control on the vehicle, officers discovered, inside the car, heritage goods, likely to be classified movable cultural goods. Among the objects identified are Roman coins, buckles, pins, buttons, combs.
The driver stated that he purchased these goods legally from Moldova without knowing that he needed supporting documents for them.
The goods were picked up and sealed to be submitted for specialist expertise.
In the case, investigations are being carried out regarding the crime of unlawfully carrying out any final export operations with classified movable cultural goods as their object, and upon completion, the necessary legal measures will be ordered.
