38 tons of plastic waste discovered in the Port of Constanța, Romania

Border guards in cooperation with customs inspectors from the Constanța Sud Border Customs Office and commissioners from the National Environmental Guard – Constanța County Commissariat carried out a control on two containers loaded with waste that was to enter Romania. They were imported from Great Britain by a company from Romania.

Further checks revealed that 37,920 kg of plastic waste were loaded into containers, and the authorities found that certain sections of the annexes submitted were not completed, thus failing to comply with applicable legal provisions, and the importing company had an environmental permit. expired.

In this regard, the control authorities took the measure of banning the access of the waste in question to the Romanian territory and returning the cargo to the exporting company from Great Britain.

A criminal case has been drawn up for committing the offenses of illegal import of waste in violation of the legal provisions in the field and the introduction on the Romanian territory of waste of any kind in order to eliminate them , at the end of the investigation the necessary legal measures will be taken.
