46 Afghan and Iranian citizens hidden in nine car dealerships found in Nadlac, Romania

The border guards from the Nadlac and Nadlac II Border Crossing Points – Arad County found, hidden in nine car parks, forty-six citizens from Afghanistan and Iran who tried to cross the border illegally in Hungary.

On 18.03.2021, around 05.00, at the Nădlac Border Crossing Point , a Bulgarian citizen, behind the wheel of an HGV registered in Bulgaria, showed up to carry out the border formalities on the way out of the country. He was transporting wine bottles from a Bulgarian company to a Swedish company, according to the accompanying documents.

Following a thorough inspection of the means of transport, the border guards discovered, hidden in the cargo compartment, six foreign nationals.

The persons were taken and transported to the headquarters of the sector for investigations where, following the verifications, the border police established that the persons in question are citizens of Afghanistan and Iran, aged between 11 and 28, asylum seekers in Romania.

Also, at the Nădlac II Border Crossing Point , the border policemen carried out the detailed control over eight road complexes led by Romanian, Turkish and one Bulgarian citizens. Drivers transported various goods (polystyrene, steel cables, chipboards, car parts, plastic rollers and metal parts) to companies in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, France, Italy and Hungary.
