A Pre-Trial Investigation into Cigarettes Flying A Drone From Belarus Has Been Completed

A pre-trial investigation conducted by the officials of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service suggests that the accused acted together with other persons.

They transported 4250 packs of cigarettes marked with Belarusian stamps from Belarus to Lithuania across the state border by drone. The accused had intended to transport the cigarettes further from the state border to the Tausiūnai – Joniškė – Šalčininkai intersection, but when the drone flight was detected by the officers of the State Border Guard Service, the cigarettes were promptly found and detained before they could be transported further.

The crime was committed in October last year. Packages of transported cigarettes on the Lithuanian side of the drone were thrown into the ruins of abandoned old farms located 100 meters from the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. The value of this smuggling, including the taxes payable, is almost 15 thousand. euros.
