Attempted smuggling of over 4 tons of tangerines

Tajik border guards of the Leilek border detachment stopped the smuggled cargo whilst on duty near the Khujand-Kanibadam highway. Border guards found a Mercedes-Sprinter car with Tajik numbers, which was illegally located on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The driver and passenger refused to the demands of the border guard detachment of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic to get out of the car and resisted, trying to leave for the territory of Tajikistan. The border guards of Kyrgyzstan stopped them and detained them.

During the inspection of the car, the border guards found 4 tons of tangerines without permits.

The approximate cost of the contraband cargo was about 300,000 soms.

After the registration of the relevant documents, the detainees and the cargo were handed over to employees of the competent authorities for further investigation.
