Border guards remove more than 20,000 smuggled cigarettes

Border guards in Krāslava region took out more than 20 thousand smuggled cigarettes.

Border guards of the Daugavpils Department of the State Border Guard, checking information on illegal movement of cigarettes, in Ūdrīši Parish, Kraslava District, in the territory of Krāslava Railway Station, found packs of “Premjer” cigarettes hidden in a train car.

In total, border guards seized 24,980 “Premjer” cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated pursuant to Section 221, Paragraph one of the Criminal Law regarding the illegal manufacture (production), storage, transfer or sale of tobacco products, if it has been committed to a significant extent.
