Bulgarian Border Police air surveillance finds nearly 4.5 tons of cannabis

A specialized police operation with the participation of officers from RDGP-Smolyan, RDGP-Kyustendil and the air surveillance detachment was conducted according to a plan approved by the Director of the General Directorate of Border Police.

During the flights, the helicopters from the specialized air surveillance detachment of the Border Police found fields of narcotic plants in a forest fund in the area of ​​responsibility of the GPU-Zlatarevo.

During the field drug tests, they reacted positively to cannabis – the total amount is 4,486 kilograms.

The district prosecutor’s offices in Petrich and Sandanski have been notified. Pre-trial proceedings have been instituted in the cases in GPU-Zlatarevo. Representative samples were seized and the remaining cannabis was destroyed on the spot in the presence of a commission.
