Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard to Estonia visits Poland

On August 9, 2022, Maj. Gen. SG Tomasz Praga held a meeting at the headquarters of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board with representatives of the Estonian side: General Elmar Vaher – General Director of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, Lt. Col. Egert Belitšev – Deputy General Director for Border Management, Col. Reet Zeisig – Head of the Cooperation Office International, Lt. Col. Priit JARVPÕLD from the Border Management Bureau Head of the Border and Migration Supervision Group acting Head of the Border Management Bureau, Mr. Tarmo Kohv – Immigration Liaison Officer for Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, International Cooperation Office.

During the meeting at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Estonia on August 9, 2022, the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard met Mr. Tarmo Miilits – Permanent Secretary, who was accompanied by Mr. Veiko Kommusaar – Permanent Undersecretary in the Undersecretariat for Internal Security.

During the visit on August 10, 2022, a delegation of the Border Guard visited the NARVA border crossing. It is the largest border crossing point on the Estonian-Russian border, which was presented by Lt. Col. Tarvo Kruup – Prefect of Eastern Prefecture and Capt. Urmas Elmi – Head of the Border Guard Bureau of the Eastern Prefecture.

Then the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard and the delegation went to the south-eastern area, where they learned about the functioning of the Pius Border Guard post, technologies and tactics of the Border Guard and the situation on the green border. The presentation of the above-mentioned section of the Estonian-Russian border was made by Col. Vallo KOPPEL – Prefect of the Southern Prefecture and Lt. Col. Meelis SAAREPUU – Head of the Border Guard Office of the Southern Prefecture.

On the last day of the visit, the Border Guard delegation headed by the Border Guard Commander visited the point of stationing the Estonian Police and Border Guard fleet. There was a patrol boat cruise on Tallinn Bay.
