In July alone, more than 2,000 such foreigners were already detained.
In total there were 17 groups of migrants detained in Latežeris village near Druskininkai municipality. Some had documents from Iraqi citizens, others were without them, but also later introduced themselves as Iraqis.
In addition, migrants accommodated in the Kabeliai and Druskininkai detention centres argued over cultural and religious reasons. Border guards attempted to appease conflicting migrants, but patrols were also rushed from nearby centres. About 60 migrants caused the conflict over places in the tents – there was a lot of dissatisfaction about who they would have to share living space with.
