Continuous and active cooperation between the Moldovan Border Police and EUBAM

The Head of Border Police Rosian Vasiloi met with the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) Slawomir PICHOR, to discuss topical issues of common interest.

Mr. Vasiloi started by thanking EUBAM for its continued support for the institutional reform process, as well as for the development of the institutional capacities of the Border Police. Likewise, in the context of measures aimed at improving the Border Police institutional capacities, he requested the assistance of the Mission in optimizing the activity of the mobile teams of the BP.

The parties also tackled the subject of joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, in this regard being noted the advantages of such an approach in managing the flow of passengers and means of transport. The sides appreciated the implementation, together with the European partners, of the project of reconstructing Palanca jointly operated border crossing point, this being the first BCP specially built for joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

The Border Police delegation reiterated its commitment and willingness to further develop, with the support of Ukrainian counterparts and EUBAM assistance, the concept of joint control and joint patrolling on the central (Transnistrian) segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to develop their cooperation on different dimensions of activity, in order to achieve the common set objectives.
