DHS Senior Official Participates in Second United States-Greece Strategic Dialogue

Chad Wolf, the Senior Official Preforming the Duties of the Under Secretary of Strategy, Policy, and Plans (SOPDUS), participated in the second United States-Greece Strategic Dialogue in Athens, Greece on October 7, 2019.

SOPDUS Wolf, alongside his Greek counterparts, led the session for the U.S. on Law Enforcement and Counterterrorism, which focused on protecting the safety and security of both nations from terrorists, transnational criminal organizations, and other threat actors. The dialogue also covered evolving cybersecurity threats, emerging technologies, and the expansion of 5G. Mr. Wolf also discussed ways the two countries could partner to combat money laundering.

Mr. Wolf highlighted the important progress on the implementation of the 2016 Joint Statement on Greece’s participation in the Visa Waiver Program, which allowed the Department of Homeland Security to restore the full validity of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) issued to Greek citizens traveling to the U.S. for business or pleasure for stays up to 90 days.

The Strategic Dialogue is a testament to the two countries’ intensive and constructive engagement. The meeting highlighted the strength of the bilateral relationship and confirmed the mutual desire of the U.S. and Greece to deepen their cooperation, as outlined by their joint statement this week.
