Four Romanian citizens arrested on remand for migrant trafficking

Between Giarmata and Pișchia localities, Timiș County, Romania, border policemen noticed several people hidden in the vegetation. At the same time, from a car registered in Vâlcea County, which was parked in the parking lot, three men got out and went to a truck, located in the same location. Two of them opened the truck’s tarpaulin, at which point all the people hidden in the vegetation climbed into the truck’s trailer, and the third climbed in with the driver.

The truck and the car started moving on the A1 motorway, in the direction of Nădlac, and were stopped by the border police crews, and then escorted to the border police headquarters for detailed control and investigations.

Following the checks, it was found that inside the truck were 48 citizens from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, aged between 18 and 34, 33 with temporary identity documents issued by the Romanian authorities for asylum seekers.

Following the action, the border police detained the two men in the car who facilitated the boarding of the migrants in the car park, as well as the driver and passenger of the truck, all four being Romanian citizens aged between 18 and 32 years.
