Fugitives wanted on INTERPOL warrants arrested in Moldova

During the control of the state border crossing, a long-distance driver with a forged driving license and a Ukrainian passenger, searched on INTERPOL, were identified. Both incidents were recorded in the last 24 hours, at the Giurgiulești-Reni border crossing point.

In the first case, a 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen showed up at the entrance to the Republic of Moldova, as a passenger of a bus on the Odessa-Varna route. During the processing of the information from the travel document, the INTERPOL record appeared in the database. The person was wanted by the French authorities as a suspect in complicity in a criminal group specializing in organizing illegal migration. At the primary hearings, the person stated that he intended to go to Bulgaria, where he works as a sailor. At the same time, he would not have known about the note on his name, but he admitted that in 2006 he was in France. According to the INTERPOL task, the border guards detained the person and placed him in the pre-trial detention facility of the Cahul Police Inspectorate, 

In the second case, a 35-year-old compatriot is being targeted, who was using a forged driving license on his travels from the Russian Federation to Bulgaria. Thus, on the way out of the Republic of Moldova, a truck approached, registered in the Russian Federation, which was involved in transporting various goods. The driver was identified as a resident of Ceadâr-Lunga district. Among the documents presented, the border policemen seemed suspicious of the veracity of the driving license, which was allegedly issued by the Russian authorities. As a result, additional verifications were used, with the help of the equipment, where it was established that the document does not correspond to an authentic one. In statements, the driver was confused, although he initially claimed that he completed his act according to the legal procedures, finally, he could not specify the information about the issuing authority and how to obtain the permit. The forged document was picked up and sent for expertise, and the owner of this document interrupted his journey. In each case, a report was drawn up for hearing and ascertaining the crime provided by art. 361 (para. 1) Penal Code in the RM.
