Lithuanian and Polish parliamentarians discuss illegal migration processes and the situation at the eastern border

At the Border Guard School in Vilnius district, Lithuanian and Polish parliamentarians discussed illegal migration processes and the situation at the eastern border of the two countries.

A session of the XXIV Assembly of the Lithuanian and Polish Parliaments was held at the Border Guard School on Wednesday. Along with the leaders of the Lithuanian Seimas, the Polish delegations led by the Deputy Marshal of the Seimas Malgožata Gosevska and the Deputy Speaker of the Senate Bogdan Borusevičius also took part in it.

Rustamas Liubajevas, the head of the service, told the politicians about the situation on the eastern border, and his superior Giedrius Ranonis told about the migrants detained by the border guards and accommodated in the Medininkai Aliens Registration Center.

The parliamentarians of the two countries discussed the situation on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, illegal migration processes promoted and carried out by the eastern neighbor regime.

The statement of the Parliamentary Assembly condemns Minsk’s desire to destabilize the situation in Lithuania, Poland and Latvia by using illegal migration as a means to achieve its political goals. Lithuanian and Polish parliamentarians call for an end to human smuggling and condemn the expulsion of migrants from Belarus through the European Union’s external border.

The guests thanked the Polish border guard and police officers assisting Lithuania, who came to our country to participate in the FRONTEX agency operation. This measure will be implemented on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border until November 30.
