Lithuanian Border Guards stop smuggled cigarettes from Belarus

At Lithuania’s Kėdainiai railway station, after stopping and checking the cargo line, border guards found 12.5 thousand packets of smuggled cigarettes in one wagon, which arrived in Lithuania from Belarus. SBGS officers also managed to detain two people who ran out of the wagon.

Border Officers stopped and inspected the cargo train to Klaipėda. Border guards already knew that one wagon could carry illegal cargo.

During the inspection, SBGS officials noticed two people hiding from one of the wagons and were immediately detained. It turned out that these were 36-year-old residents of Vilnius city and district. After inspecting this wagon-container, which came to Lithuania from Belarus, the border guards found 12.5 thousand packs of cigarettes “Fest” with Belarusian excise stamps.
