Lithuanian Border Officers to Protect Border With Russia With New Boat

The new boat will be used to protect the EU’s external border to prevent illegal migration, smuggling and other work.

The SBGS acquired a new craft with additional equipment from UAB Laivo sandėlis for 100,663 euros through a public tender. These are budget funds.

The Ockelbo B21 CAB is 6.85 m long, 2.23 m wide, 0.38 m deep, and has a 200-horsepower Mercury outboard engine. Due to its small draft, it is also suitable for shallow waters.

The boat is equipped with modern navigation equipment, has a radar, bottom vision system, autopilot, etc. The catheter has a thermal camera that will be able to detect objects in the water during the dark hours of the day, it will help to avoid collisions or find the objects you are looking for.

In addition, additional security equipment has been installed, which is required for border guard functions and meets other specific requirements for border patrols.

Thanks to the installed heating system, the boat will be convenient for patrols to patrol even in bad weather conditions.

The new craft develops speeds of up to 75 km / h and can accommodate up to 6 people.

Last September, a similar new boat, the Ockelbo B21 CAB, was launched by officers of the Bardinai Border Guard of the Pagėgiai Border Guard of the SBGS, which controls the border across the Nemunas.
