Members of BiH border patrol prevented the smuggling of cigarettes worth BAM 95 000

On 22 May 2021, in the continuation of the Operational Action ‘Štit 2021’, members of Border Police Unit Trebinje prevented the smuggling of 17 750 packs of various brand cigarettes without excise stamps, in place Gornji Lipnik, Gacko municipality. The seized cigarettes, worth approximately BAM 95 000, were found on a forest road from the direction of Montenegro. The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office was informed about the circumstances, and following his instructions, the work on the case continues.

The Director of BP BiH, Zoran Galić, pointed out that Border Police of BiH is intensively fighting against all forms of cross-border crime and that the commitment of Border Police of BiH is the permanent protection of the state border. ‘In the continuation of the Operation Štit, members of Border Police Unit Trebinje once again showed perseverance and focus on the fight against all forms of crime, along with a daily and intensive fight against illegal migration’, said Director Galić.

As a reminder, as part of the Operational Action ‘Štit 2021’ in April, the smuggling of 26 750 packs of various brand cigarettes, worth around BAM 133 750, was prevented at the entrance to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Joint Border Crossing Point Deleuša – Vraćenovići.
