Mexican Army seize drugs valued over $409 million pesos

The Secretariat of National Defense informs that within the framework of the National Plan for Peace and Security 2018-2024, and to contribute to the National Strategy for the Prevention of Addictions “Together for Peace”, personnel of the Mexican Army when conducting ground surveys in the vicinity of the town of La Rumorosa in the municipality of Tecate, BC, located and seized the following:

  • 1,330 Kilograms of a substance with characteristics of methamphetamine (crystal).
  • 6 Kilograms of a bluish powder with similarities to powdered Fentanyl.
  • 5.3 Kilograms of a dark paste with heroin characteristics.
  • 5,000 Fentanyl tablets.
  • 15 Kilograms of a dark oil with characteristics of Tetrahydrocannabinol (“THC” marijuana oil).

The possible insured drug would have an estimated price in the national market of $ 409’949,304.32 (FOUR HUNDRED NINE MILLION NINE HUNDRED FORTY-NINE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FOUR PESOS 32/100 MN), thereby preventing this type of addictive substances from reaching Mexican youth and affect their integral development.

The seizure was made available to the corresponding authorities, pending the official weight and the chemical opinion.

The foregoing is the result of the intense work carried out by the personnel of this Armed Institute, as well as their experience, loyalty, disposition and commitment, which shows that social trust in the Institution is the best evaluation we have of our performance, always in benefit of the people of Mexico .
