More than 2,000 kilos of hashish intercepted on the north coast of the island of Tenerife

The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested six people and investigated another in an operation where a total of 53 bales of hashish, weighing 2,075 kilos, were seized on the northern coast of the island of Tenerife.

The operation was initiated as a result of the exchange of information between the Civil Guard and the General Directorate of Surveillance over Moroccan Territory (DGST) where it became aware of the possible arrival on the coast of Tenerife of a boat that could be carrying a significant amount of drugs.

For this reason, the agents carried out an operation on the Tenerife coast where they found that in the place known as El Guincho beach, six people were unloading a significant amount of bales from a semi-rigid boat. At that moment they were all arrested and the drugs were seized. It should be noted that, at the time of the operation, four of the detainees were unloading the bales from the inflatable boat and two were acting as skippers of the boat. The detainees are accused of alleged crimes against public health and belonging to a criminal group. In addition, five mobile phones and various documents were also seized.

The operation was carried out by agents from the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police, the Fiscal and Borders Section, Citizen Security, the Provincial Maritime Service and the Traffic Group. The detainees, along with the proceedings carried out, were placed at the disposal of the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 of Icod de los Vinos.
