More than 350,000 cigarettes were seized by the customs officials from TD Customs Rousse

During a joint inspection, customs officers and border police found undeclared 11,700 boxes (234,000 pieces) of cigarettes with a Bulgarian excise label in a truck. During two other separate checks at two other border points within the TD Customs Rousse, the customs officers seized another 6,190 boxes (123,800 pieces) of tobacco products with a Bulgarian excise label.

On 14.11.2022, in the area of The Danube Bridge – Rousse BCP, customs officers from the “Combating Drug Trafficking Rousse” Sector at TD Customs Rousse and officers of the Border Police stopped for inspection a truck driven by a Bulgarian citizen. The vehicle is transporting packaged goods to Germany. During the thorough customs inspection, 11,700 boxes (234,000 pieces) of cigarettes, affixed with a Bulgarian excise label, were found among the transported goods in the cargo hold. For excise goods, the driver did not submit the necessary documents under the Law on Excise and Tax Warehouses, for which an act was drawn up. Cigarettes are seized.

Last week, during two other checks at two border points within the TD Customs Rousse, the customs officials detained another 123,800 short tobacco products with a Bulgarian excise label. On 10.11.2022, at the Oryahovo – Ferry BCP, customs inspectors carried out an inspection of a truck transporting group goods to France. 12 cartons of cigarettes or 4,684 boxes (93,680 pieces) of cigarettes with a Bulgarian excise label were found.

A day earlier, on 09.11.2022, in the area of The Danube Bridge 2 – Vidin BCP, customs officials checked a passenger van traveling to Germany with eight people for seasonal work. It was established that a total of 1,506 packs of cigarettes of various brands, affixed with Bulgarian excise labels, were carried in the luggage of the passengers – a total of 30,120 pieces.
