On the S8 route near the town of Łask in the voivodeship In Łódź, after breaking the customs seals, officers of the Border Guard, Police and KAS found five young foreigners in the cargo area of the truck.

They were hidden between pallets with transported foil. They were provided with basic pre-medical aid. Based on oral statements and a medical examination, it was established that they are Afghan citizens aged 14 to 16.

They all crossed the Polish border from the Slovak side. They traveled in hiding, probably from the territory of Turkey, through Bulgaria and Hungary. A truck driver, a Bulgarian citizen, was also questioned in the case as a witness. The man informed his dispatcher about the incident, and then the uniformed services.

After the activities were completed, he was allowed to continue his journey. Administrative procedure aimed at obliging foreigners to return was implemented for all detainees. Four 16-year-old Afghan citizens were placed in the Guarded Center for Foreigners in Kętrzyn by the court’s decision. The fifth, fourteen-year-old, was referred to one of the educational and care facilities in Łódź.
