Over 2,200 goods likely to be counterfeit, worth approximately 564,000 lei, discovered in PTF Bechet, Romania
On 17.12.2024 at the Bechet Border Crossing Point a 56-year-old Hungarian citizen presented himself to enter the country, driving a truck registered in Hungary, traveling on the Greece-Slovakia route.
During the inspection of the means of transport, border police discovered several cardboard boxes containing several pairs of shoes, namely slippers.
Following the inventory of the goods, the quantity of 2,256 goods resulted , all bearing the marks of well-known brands, being susceptible to counterfeiting.
The goods, worth approximately 564,000 lei if they had been sold as branded products, were seized by border police for further investigation.
Currently, investigations are being carried out against the Hungarian driver for the crime of putting into circulation a product bearing a trademark identical or similar to a registered trademark for identical or similar products and which prejudices the owner of the registered trademark , and upon completion of these investigations, legal solutions will be proposed by the prosecutor’s office.
