In the town of Żurawica near Przemyśl, Border Guard officers from the facility in Lubaczów, conducting road checks, selected a bus entering a nearby property for inspection. The inspection of the cargo space of the car quickly revealed 18 bags of cut tobacco. Then, in the driver’s tin garage, the officers found another 14 bags of tobacco.
In total, over 640 kilograms of tobacco slices with a black market value of PLN 322 thousand were secured. If the goods were to be traded, the State Treasury would lose over 700,000. PLN due to unpaid excise tax and VAT.
