Polish Border Guards discover migrants hidden the trailer travelling to The Netherlands

Officers from the Polish Bug River Border Guard Department and the Customs Department in Hrebenne discovered two illegal migrants while inspecting a truck trailer entering our country. The men tried to enter Poland to then get to the Netherlands.

In the area of ​​the road border crossing in Hrebenne, officers of the Border Guard and the Customs and Tax Service, during a joint inspection of a truck trailer, noticed two men. It found that illegal migrants were 24 and 26-year-olds from Iran and Syria. They did not have the documents authorizing them to stay in the territory of Poland.

The foreigners were detained, and after taking samples for the presence of SARS-CoV-2, they were taken to the offices of the Border Guard. Despite the request to hand over illegal migrants to the Ukrainian border services under simplified readmission, the Ukrainian side refused to accept them.

The detained Syrian citizens were charged with illegal crossing of the state border, punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment. By the court’s decision, both men will be placed in a guarded center for foreigners.

In connection with this case, a 52-year-old Turkish citizen, who was driving a controlled truck, was also detained. The man was charged with aiding in the illegal crossing of the state border. He is also facing a sentence of up to 3 years imprisonment. After the end of the procedural steps, the truck driver was released and allowed to continue his journey.
