Polish detention and liquidation of a criminal gang

In connection with illegal smuggling and trade in tobacco products, without Polish excise stamps border guards detained nine people. 

The findings of the investigation show that in the period from October 2019 to November 2021 in the province of Mazowieckie and other localities in the country, on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and Lithuania, an organized criminal group was active, aimed at smuggling tobacco products without Polish excise stamps from the territory of Belarus and Lithuania. Then, the smuggled cigarettes were distributed throughout the country. The group was headed by two people.

It was found that the perpetrators imported into the territory of Poland, and then stored and transported tobacco products by car not less than 982,926 parcels with a great market value of PLN 13,895,962.45. 

The suspects were charged with committing penal fiscal offenses as well as directing and participating in an organized criminal group. 

In relation to illicit trade, six other people were detained.
