Slovakia supports the Baltic States in connection with the migration situation on the border with Belarus

The migration situation on the border of Belarus with some EU Member States was the subject of an extraordinary videoconference of the Ministers of the Interior of the Union. Representatives of EU Member States expressed support and solidarity with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland in their efforts to maintain the integrity of the EU’s external border.

They also condemned the misuse of migration for political purposes. Slovakia was represented at the conference by the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Vendelín Leitner. He informed about the help from the Slovak Republic: We sent an expert to Lithuania through EASO (European Asylum Support Office) and police officers through FRONTEX (European Border and Coast Guard Agency). At the same time, Slovakia provided humanitarian material assistance to Lithuania .
