Sweden & Denmark to strengthen cross-border police cooperation

During their meeting in Stockholm, Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and her Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven agreed to strengthen cross-border police cooperation.

The two Scandinavian countries decided to set up a Joint Analysis Team to strengthen police cooperation in the Oresund region, where Denmark and Sweden are connected by the Oresund Bridge.
Oresund is Scandinavia’s largest and most populous region with some four million inhabitants.

“I am very pleased that today we have decided to strengthen our cooperation in the fight against cross-border crime with the establishment of a so-called Joint Analysis Team,” said Frederiksen in the press statement.

The decision came in the wake of a recent series of explosions and gang-related shootings in both Denmark and Sweden.

The new unit would enable more thorough investigations and operations in the two countries.
