Tanker full of smuggled cigarettes discovered by border police

Border police officers from the Dolj Border Patrol Station stopped a tanker truck for inspection, in the vicinity of Cetate, in which the driver declared that he was transporting gas.

During a preliminary inspection of the tanker, border guards noticed that the screws on the cargo compartment door showed recent signs of tampering, which is why the tanker was taken to the institution’s headquarters for a thorough inspection.

After opening the cargo compartment, it was found that there was no gas inside, but an impressive quantity of cigarettes, following the inventory resulting in the quantity of 1,800,000 cigarettes without a tax stamp, worth 270,000 euros.

The case is being investigated for the crime of smuggling , and verifications are continuing to establish the entire criminal area and hold all persons involved accountable.
