The most active marijuana trafficking organization in Europe dismantled
The operation coordinated by Europol and Eurojust, has preceded the arrest of 110 people, more than 80 searches have been made in Spain and Poland and a ton and a half of marijuana, more than 20,000 plants, as well as 43 kg of cocaine have been seized and 91 kg of hashish
Mafias from Poland, Bulgaria, Morocco and Spain participated in the strongly hierarchical organization
The Civil Guard together with the Special Division of Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime of the Polish Police (CBSP), in an operation coordinated by Eurojust and Europol, have dismantled a criminal organization that transported marijuana and hashish from Spain to several European countries.
The operation began in September 2019, when the Civil Guard became aware of an organization based in the province of Malaga, which could be transporting large quantities of marijuana, from Andalusia to Poland.
Continuing with the investigations, it was possible to detect the presence of leaders of a Polish organization residing in a luxury urbanization, located in Estepona (Malaga), who could be linked to international drug trafficking.
During the course of the investigation, it was possible to verify criminal ties with other mafia organizations, which are beginning to settle in the province of Granada, as the main supply point for marijuana.
Through international collaboration channels, the Civil Guard contacted the CBSP and the structure of this organization began to be known, which at its top would be made up of one of the main Polish drug traffickers, and in addition to people of this nationality, there would be others important drug traffickers from Bulgaria, Morocco and Spain.
Later, the agents detected that the organization would be composed: by the Polish leader and his lieutenants in a highly hierarchical structure. The latter would each exploit one of the provinces under their responsibility. In addition to Granada, the organization had numerous plantations in homes and warehouses in the provinces of Malaga, Cádiz and Valencia.
Likewise, it was found that the organization transported marijuana and hashish in sophisticated double bottoms made in trucks, cars and even in a bus. For its conduct, the organization carried out a rigorous selection process for drivers in Poland.
Following the establishment of coordination meetings with Europol and Eurojust, 78 entries and records were made in the provinces involved.
The operation has settled 110 people and with the seizure of:
- 1.5 tons of marijuana buds, vacuum packed.
- More than 20,000 marijuana plants
- 91 kilograms of hashish.
- 43 kilos of cocaine.
- More than half a million euros in cash
- 8 firearms.
- 8 trucks
- A bus
- 26 vehicles
- Movable and immovable property at 5 million euros.
The operation has been developed by the OCON-SUR, Regional Center for Analysis and Intelligence against Drug Trafficking (CRAIN), Rapid Action Group (GAR), Reserve and Security Group (ARS) Air Service and the Commanderies of Malaga, Valencia, Cádiz, Granada and Toledo and directed by Court of Instruction number 2 of Sagunto (Valencia).
