The Spanish National Police dismantles an international network that sexually exploited Colombian women

The first phase was developed during the month of March of this year in the provinces of Jaén and Córdoba

The Spanish Police has carried out the second phase of an operation that has allowed the complete dismantling of an international network that sexually exploited Colombian women. There are 10 detainees and two women released in Jaén. The criminal organization, which had not ceased its activity during the State of Alarm, sexually exploited in flats in the province of Córdoba and Jaén women captured in Colombia through deception, including a minor. The operation -in its two phases- has concluded with 17 detainees, 4 Spaniards and 13 Colombians for belonging to a criminal organization, trafficking in human beings, crimes related to prostitution, favoring clandestine immigration and against public health.

The police investigation had its origin in the statements of two Colombian women who stated that they had been tricked into travelling to Spain with the promise of a job doing housework. Once in our country, they began to suffer threats and physical violence and were forced to practice prostitution to pay the debt they had contracted with the organization.

First phase

One of the women who was in an apartment in Córdoba forced into prostitution, in an attempt to flee from her exploiters, communicated her situation to her family via mobile phone. His relatives reported him to the Colombian Police and the latter transferred him to the National Police, for which a device was immediately deployed that ended with the arrest of two members of the organization and the release of the woman and two more victims. one of them is a minor.

After the arrests in Córdoba, the agents located several flats in Jaén where the organization continued to profit from the victims of trafficking. Despite the confinement, many clients requested the services by going to the flats or demanding that the women move to their homes. The police carried out four searches and arrested five members of the organization and released seven victims.

Second stage

The arrests and searches carried out during the first phase of the operation have allowed the agents to obtain enough information to carry out this second operation, in which three floors have been registered in the province of Jaén, 2 victims have been released and 10 people have been arrested.

The operation -in its two phases- has concluded with the release of 14 victims and with a total of 17 detainees -4 Spaniards and 13 Colombians- for belonging to a criminal organization, trafficking in human beings, crimes related to prostitution, favoring the clandestine immigration and against public health. In total, eight registries have been made, one in Córdoba and seven in Jaén, 2,680 euros have been intervened in cash, various mobile phones, laptops, video surveillance cameras, notebooks with the exploitation accounting, receipts of money transfers, material of sodomy and small amounts of narcotics and marijuana.
