Two dozen illegal immigrants and the organizer of the migration channel to Europe detained at the Belarusian border

On the night of March 2–3, servicemen of the border service in the Braslav region suppressed an attempt to violate the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.

The border guards detained a group of 24 illegal migrants near the border. They arrived in the border area in two minibuses.

The detainees were Iraqi citizens (17 men and 7 women aged 20 to 57). They were accompanied by a Russian citizen who is allegedly the organizer of the illegal migration channel.

The drivers of minibuses – accomplices of the violators – were two citizens of the Republic of Belarus.

The detainees had with them mobile phones, food, change of clothes. They are currently being investigated.

For attempting to violate the border, violators are threatened with administrative liability in the form of paying a fine of up to 2900 Belarusian rubles each and deportation from the country.

A criminal case has been opened against the organizer of the channel for organizing illegal migration. The suspect faces a fine, as well as imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
