Two Large Groups of Migrants Apprehended by Rio Grande City Border Patrol

Last week, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC) agents encountered 251 migrants in two large groups.

RGC agents encountered 110 migrants after they illegally entered the United States east of Rio Grande City, Texas.  The group consisted of 94 family members and 16 single adults. The migrants are from Central America.

Shortly after, RGC agents encountered another large group of migrants that illegally enter the United States just west of Roma, Texas. This group consisted of 65 family members and 76 single adults.  Agents determined the migrants are citizens of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.

Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) agents continues to experience an influx of migrants crossing daily into the United States. Unlike previous large groups seen by RGV agents, neither group had a single unaccompanied minor and one group had more single adults than family members.  This is uncommon, as most, if not all of the large groups encountered this fiscal year have been primarily family members and unaccompanied minors, with a very small fraction being single adults.
