US CBP Officers Intercept Cocaine Worth Over $2 Million

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $2 million in one enforcement action at the World Trade Bridge.

“Our frontline CBP officers in the cargo environment effectively apply inspection experience and modern technology, which led directly to this significant narcotics interception,” said Acting Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry. “Seizures like this one underscore the reality of the drug threat and our commitment to the border security mission.”

The seizure occurred on Wednesday, February 3, at the World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2009 Wabash trailer for a secondary examination. Following a canine and non-intrusive imaging system examination, CBP officers discovered a total of 104 packages with a weight of 264 pounds of alleged cocaine concealed within the trailer.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $2,036,940.

CBP seized the narcotics and trailer and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
