US CBP Officers Seize $1.3 Million Worth of Narcotics in Four Seizures

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Brownsville Port of Entry intercepted alleged narcotics in four separate enforcement actions that have a combined estimated street value of $1,313,577.

“CBP officers continue to secure our borders using different enforcement tools which have yielded these significant narcotics seizures,” said (A) Port Director Bob Parker, Brownsville Port of Entry.

The first seizure took place on Wednesday, Apr. 21, at the Gateway International Bridge when a 24-year-old male United States citizen from Brownsville, Texas, applied for entry into the United States driving a 2010 Ford.  The vehicle was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.  In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system (NII) and a canine unit, CBP officers discovered 33 packages hidden within the 2010 Ford.  CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 42.59 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.

The second seizure also took place on Wednesday, Apr. 21, at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge when an 26-year-old male United States citizen from Brownsville, Texas, applied for entry into the United States driving a 2017 Hyundai.  The traveler was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.  In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system (NII), CBP officers discovered nine packages hidden within the 2017 Hyundai.  CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 23.45 pounds of alleged cocaine.

The third seizure took place on Thursday, Apr. 22, at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge when an 49-year-old male United States citizen from Brownsville, Texas, applied for entry into the United States driving a 2011 Chevrolet.  The traveler was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.  In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system (NII) and a canine unit, CBP officers discovered 10 packages hidden within the 2011 Chevrolet.  CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 16.79 pounds of alleged cocaine.

The fourth seizure also took place on Thursday, Apr. 22, at the Gateway International Bridge when an 22-year-old male United States citizen from Brownsville, Texas, applied for entry into the United States driving a 2007 Jeep.  The traveler was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.  In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system (NII) and a canine unit, CBP officers discovered eight packages hidden within the 2007 Jeep.  CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 19.62 pounds of alleged cocaine.

The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizures is approximately $851,857, $180,880, $129,540, and $151,300 respectively.
