US CBP Officers Seize Fentanyl Pills Concealed Inside a Motorcycle

 U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry discovered 10.19 pounds of fentanyl pills concealed in an air filter of a motorcycle. 

The incident occurred at 11:07 a.m. on June 6, when a 22-year-old driver of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle was entering the United States from Mexico at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. 

The driver presented a valid California driver’s license and stated he was going to San Diego. CBP officers discovered tampering on the fuel tank and referred the driver for an intensive inspection.  

CBP officers conducted a thorough inspection that led to the discovery of vacuum sealed packages concealed in the air filter box of the motorcycle. 

A total of 4 packages were removed from the sports bike. The total weight of the blue Fentanyl pills was 10.19 pounds. The total street value of the dangerous narcotics is an estimated $122,280. 

“No matter the conveyance type, our officers are trained to detect any type of tampering within a motor vehicle,” said Anne Maricich, CBP Deputy Director of Field Operations in San Diego.  “It makes me proud to know that our officers are always alert and ready to disrupt these transnational criminal organizations smuggling attempts”

CBP officers turned the driver over to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for further processing.

CBP officers seized the motorcycle and narcotics.
