Vision-Box and partners deliver Frontex innovative Entry/Exit System Pilot at the largest EU land border in Bulgaria

Vision-Box has announced the launch of a Frontex awarded trial to implement an innovative land borders project in Bulgaria, in the context of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES). The project which went live in early June 2021 is in collaboration with Ministry of Interior and the Border Police at two land borders – for coaches, cars and pedestrians at entry of Kapitan Andreevo BCP from Turkey for phase 1, and exit at Kalotina BCP to Serbia for phase 2.

The land borders as part of the pilot are equipped with Vision-Box’s Orchestra™ Identity & Border Management Platform, which uses enrolment kiosks, a touchless biometric corridor, and handheld tablets to gather individuals’ travel documents, facial and and fingerprint features, and verify them against national and EU wide databases. The platform is compliant with EU GDPR regulations through its unique Privacy-by-Design certification.

PwC Luxembourg will be supporting Vision-Box during the pilot with testing and overall reporting, while Bulgarian system integrator – Global Sat, is supporting the deployment and maintenance on ground overall during the 6 months of operation.
